beginning in 1978
At the end of an old graveled farm road, is an extraordinary structure that perfectly reflects the unique and eccentric personality of its creator Frank Helsabeck. In 1978, at the age of 52, Frank began working to make his dream of building a skating rink a reality by purchasing a sawmill and cutting down the trees that had stood on the Helsabeck family farm for more than 150 years. First, he dug a well and began building around it one room at a time. After a fews years in a declining stock market, he abandon his aspirations of a skating rink. He then put all his efforts into building a place for a future wife and kids with a large open room for “dancing and romancing”. He built everything he needed, the doors, windows, furniture, jaw-dropping light fixtures, and even, the curtain pulls! About a decade into the project, he married a mail-order-bride from the Philippines. Unfortunately, they ended up divorcing. She moved out of the state and took his last hope of ever having a family with her. Sadly, in 2011, Frank Helsabeck passed away, but the legacy of his unique construction remains for us to enjoy and celebrate the happiest moments of our lives with our family and friends. So begin your journey to a lifetime of happiness, love, romance and dancing at the place built by a hopeless romantic who I affectionately called, Uncle Frank.
